Orangeola is a wonderful weeping Japanese Maple. One of the most outstanding lace leaf weepers to be introduced in the last 25 years. When grown in mostly sun the spring color is bright orange-red. This maple is a moderate-to-fast growing lace leaf that can become 5′ tall and wide in 10 years. A medium sized weeper with wonderful color throughout the growing season. The new growth ranges in color from light green to orange if grown with partial shade. The more sun the more orange color. Summer color tones are bold from green to orange. Then in late summer another flush of new growth shows more red orange and the finale’ is scarlet red. This variety can take hot afternoon sun with adequate moisture. Once established hardy to USDA zone 5.
Lace leaf maples require more frequent pruning than upright varieties. For more information please see Pruning Japanese Maples.
Limited availability – As lace leaf maples get larger the branches become stiff and make it difficult for me to pack and ship them without breakage; therefore, only 1 and 2 gallon size maples will be offered.
